So in light of my last post, I opted to take Thursday & Friday off of running.
My legs just feel tired and I’m saving up my Pink Runners for the 12 miler I have scheduled tomorrow. I think I can bear to run one more long run in those shoes, then they are being renamed The Dirty Dash shoes! 😉
I rather enjoyed my peaceful, no running evening last night.
So instead of running I shopped.
Yes, that’s right… I did what any girl antsy for new shoes would do.
I bought LOTS & LOTS of Gu!
I hope this will tide me over for a while.
And I was SO excited to finally find the Chocolate Mint, that one is definitely going to be consumed tomorrow! 🙂
I also decided to add in a few new fruity flavahs. I hate fake fruit flavoring, so am already chalking them up to the do not like category, but I felt that all my chocolate & espresso love needed a little balance.
What is your favorite Gu/GEL Flavor?
In other AWESOME news I think I may have created the most amazing and delicious Green Monster yet.
I know, you are probably wondering how that is even possible because I truly have come up with some doosies!
Remember this one? The Cherry Keylime Goddess Smoothie
Or this one? The Good Luck Green Monster
Well today’s Monster tops the charts and takes the gold because it truly is delish!
Well let’s put it this way, if you a Chai Tea Lover then this Monster is for you!
So I didn’t even put you in suspense as to what the secret ingredient was, because truly I am this excited about sharing this creation with you.
Give it up for the Chocolate Chai Monster or as I secretly named the “Chai-onster” (yeah that latter didn’t work so well).
Chocolate Chai Monster:
- 1/2 cup of Tazo Chai
- 1/2 cup of Almond Milk
- 1 frozen banana
- 2 heaping handfuls of spinach
- 1/2 scoop of vanilla protein powder
- 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
OH. MY. GAWSH. Seriously, you don’t have to take my word for it, you should all go out and buy some chai mix right now and see for yourself!
Cuz I’m like drinking this thing and wondering if there is anything more delicious than this heaven in my mouth. And it’s my breakfast! YAY!
Hope you all have a safe and wonderful Labor Day weekend! Mine will be filled with a 12 miler and a good friend’s wedding – oh yeah and Boise State University’s first football game of the year! Wooo hooO!
I love chai tea so I know I’d like that smoothie. YUM!
I’ve never tried gu but that’s only because of my knee injury and not being able to run enough miles. I definitely will be asking you about your favorites when I get back to running!
thats a lot of GU. i dont particularly like Gu, but ive had good luck with the Espresso Love. So i think im gonna stick to that. Tho the Chocolate Mint does sound awesome. I might just need to try that out!
Good luck with ur 12 miler. I am doing a 7.5 trail run. its been a while since i have done a LONG run and am kinda resting before next weekend’s 19 miler.
ok have a great weekend, Linzi!
Chai is one of my favorite flavours! I will for sure have to give this a try!!
As for the Gu stuff, I’ve never tried any but I would likely prefer chocolatey over fruity!
Enjoy your weekend and have a great run. This must be a recovery week for you – hahah 12 mile recovery, it just doesn’t sound right. 🙂 I haven’t fallen on the love train for Green Monsters. Tried them 3 times now and it was a throw out every time. Though Chai Tea is a big time favourite for me. I’m also not a Gu/Gel lover either. The chews are fine though. Have a wonderful weekend.
I like the GU chomps but am just not enjoying GU right now. If I can find it I am switching back to CarbBoom.
I love Chai Tea…great idea.
Wise decision to take Thursday and Friday off.
I have no favorite GU, I’ve just started orientating on them but I don’t need them for my training schedule in September so I got time to inform myself.
Have a beautiful weekend, enjoy your 12-miler and the wedding.
Ohhh let me know how you like the chocolate mint flavor! I just purchased a box of six yesterday because I like it so much!
I hope your 12 miler went well!
LOVE the Mint Chocolate! It’s like eating a peppermint patty! 🙂
Sounds amazing! I’m a purist when it comes to gu: chocolate, vanilla and espresso. I don’t deviate!
